So we may be pushing back the wedding to May 2010. Kee and I visited Casa Real in Pleasanton yesterday. Gorgeous!! The look of the event center, the ballroom, the Sun Garden...it's all what I want. I need to look at other places, too, but this one is def my #1. So then we talked to the coordinator and pretty much everything this time next year is book...except for Sept 11th and Halloween. And some Fridays and Sundays which I don't want. And it's pretty pricey. So we figured, let's wait some more, save, and get a Saturday date that we want.

...then Kee jokes, "We should do it on your birthday."
Well I don't think my birthday falls on a Saturday in 2010. Let me check.
(So I whip out the calendar and sure enough, MAY 01, 2010 IS A SATURDAY.
Then I get all excited about getting married my bday. And try to get all deep and meaningful about it.
Well it'd be really a nice tribute to my parents since it IS the day I came into this world and this will be the day they're giving me away.
"And I'll be able to get an anniversary present on your birthday." he says
AAAANNNND I'LL be getting TWO presents! Yay!

So we need to look at a couple more places but if we do decide to do it at Casa Real, May 01, 2010 will be the officially set date. :)

I know I've been MIA. I come on here to check if anyone has written something, but then I can't get myself to sit here and actually type anything. So here I am. It's early. I did my 4 12-hour shifts since Thursday. I was exhausted yesterday. But of course, I couldn't sleep in today. It was habit for me to wake up at 5am. Then I just laid there and waited for Kee to wake up. He left for work about a half hour ago. And here I am, drinking coffee and eating oatmeal. Well, forcing myself to eat oatmeal. I hate the stuff.

Well, it is Tuesday October 28 and as of yesterday I have 2 more shifts to go. I did WORK this weekend with my 36 hours of clinical. Wake up, get ready, spend almost 13 hours at O'Connor working my ass off, come home, wash up, sleep. And then wake up to do it all over again. Saturday was fine. I was stoked to work with my other preceptor, Mary. Then Sunday was good. Surprisingly I had a lot of energy. And we even snuck off to get Japanese food for all of us working that day.

Yesterday though...I was exhausted. I worked with my other preceptor, Nilo. The day started off crazy because we had an admission that came in around 630 with a L Femoral Neck fracture. The admission hadn't been done yet, the chart wasn't done yet, and we had no idea when she was going in for surgery.

...i hate oatmeal...

Anyways, so of course that was our patient. So we were trying to get everything ready on her and go see our other 3 patients. We finally got settled around 10. Then I had to discharge 1 of them. And then after lunch I got a post-op Total Hip and a transfer from PCU s/p acute intracranial bleed.

So I'm assessing my new patients and trying to get them settled and all of a sudden the unit goes dark. All the power is off. Within a few seconds the emergency generator is supposed to go off.

It didn't.

And JACHO is right down the hallway.

So I'm watching the surveyors and they walk away. They were supposed to come to our unit next. We had spent all morning preparing for them. They were gone. And the power was still off. water was off, too. We had no idea what was going on.

So now I've got a post-op patient whose pain is starting to climb up. Can't get her Morphine because the Pyxis is down. Can't get her ice packs 'cause the power is out. It was a mess. We finally got power in the nurses' station 45 minutes later or so. And then full power in all the rooms at around 5.

At first we thought it was a drill because of JACHO. Maybe they were testing our disaster preparedness. Obviously they failed that one. Come to find out later...they think there was a car accident and that a car hit a transformer and wiped out power in the neighborhood. And they're still investigating why the generator didn't come on.

Like I told Mary yesterday...it was like Grey's, but with no sex and no hot young patients. :)

I'm ENGAGED!

I posted this on my myspace blog, so i'll just copy and paste it here. You will all hear the details on Wednesday anyways. =)

This past Saturday (October 4) Keenan and I headed out to San Francisco to celebrate our 8 year anniversary on the Hornblower dinner cruise...

As we were driving there, Kee asked if I wanted to stop by and say hi to my mom at her work. Thought it was a little weird because when we head out to the Bay, we never really stop by to see her. But I thought it would be fun so she could see him and his new suit. So we went and my mom was all talking about how good he looked. It was a short visit since we had to head into the city by a certain time.

So we get to SF and we're waiting to board the ship. It was super cold and the wind was starting to pick up. I had originally bought a pretty dress to wear but changed my mind and ended up wearing something warmer. Wish I had worn a dress now. As we sat in the car he began talking about when he was going to propose. "I have the time planned out. It has to be the perfect moment." And I smiled and said "I can't wait. I'm soo excited!"

We get on the Hornblower around 700. We sit, order a cocktail and start eating our appetizer which was awaiting us. Polynesian Chicken Fresh Maui Pineapple, Spiced Huli Huli Dipping Sauce, Toasted Macadamia Nuts Served atop a butter lettuce Leaf. Yum.

We sat down and enjoyed each other's company. I tried to take a lot of pictures but it was too dark. He asked if I wanted to get some champagne but I didn't really want to. I had this Green Sun drink that was delish. Green Tea Liquer, Midori, club soda, and lime juice. Then he kept asking if I wanted to dance. I was going to say yes, but then our salads came. Garden Fresh Heirloom Tomatoes Balsamic Vinaigrette, Fresh Basil, Mozzarella di Bufala and Spiced almonds served atop a bed of baby greens. That too was good.

So we sat and watched the crazy old drunk people dance. We met this other younger couple celebrating a birthday so we talked to them a lot. Then dinner came. Kee got the Filet Mignon and I got the Dungeness Crab Stuffed Tilapia.

After dinner Kee wanted to go outside to look at the views off the deck. I wanted to let my food digest first, so we sat some more. I went to the bathroom and came back and told him I was ready to go. So we started walking. I see him look back at the young couple smiling. I thought it was weird, but turned around and kept walking.

So we went to the front of the ship. We were coming up to the Golden Gate Bridge. I was holding on for dear life because the ship started rocking a little because the water near the bridge is pretty rough. The wind was whipping, too! My hair was flying all over the place. So the ship started to turn around. Kee and I walked to the portside of the ship. The wind completely stopped...

So we were looking at the Golden Gate and Kee told me that he loved me so much. I told him I loved him too. He got quiet and I kept looking at the sites. I saw him taking a couple of deep breaths.

"Will you do me a favor?"

Sure! (I'm so retarded now that I think about this)He drops down to one knee and has the ring on his pinky and starts crying...

"Will you marry me?"
All of a sudden the tears start pouring. I crouched down and gave him the biggest hug and said "YES! OF COURSE!!" and he put that gorgeous ring on my finger.

I couldn't believe it. I wanted to cry, laugh, puke. haha Seriously. I've been waiting for this for so long. It was perfect. Then he starts to say..."I had 3 moments planned. I wanted to drop the ring in a glass of champagne, but you don't like champagne! I wanted to do it when we were dancing, but you didn't want to dance. And you ALWAYS want to dance! So my third moment was in front of the Golden Gate Bridge."

I'm always ruining things. haha. But he did it. And we had our perfect moment. And now we're engaged and couldn't be happier. Stay tuned for wedding details. =)
